6 x 750 kWp SUNfarming solar plants

With a total order value of 6 million euros, four ground-mounted systems and two rooftop systems, each rated at 750 kWp in Germany, were successfully completed by SUNfarming GmbH.

The municipalities of Reisdorf, Wegleben, Wolmirsleben, Harzgerode, Hennickendorf and Zahna are committed to sustainability with the construction of solar energy systems, thus making a valuable contribution to a regional energy supply. The plants were partly completed in November or EEG compliant completed until 31th of decembre this year, the grid connection is a short time later.
Each 750 kWp plant supplies clean and green electricity for more than 240 households. The CO2 savings per plant are 440,000 kg / year, on average as many as 165 middle-class cars (8l / 100km) emit per year.

"Our range of investors spans the entire breadth, from project development to service and monitoring, all from one source. We have developed a unique quality assurance system for banks and investors. Our PV components are based exclusively on high-quality materials. In addition to the certification by the TÜV Rheinland and the Photovoltaikinstitut Berlin, SUNfarming experts for quality assurance check the module factories unannounced and monitor the production for all technical components according to a particularly strict system.
An average of 7% additional capacity from our systems over the past few years confirms the premium quality of our components, "explains Martin Tauschke, SUNfarming Managing Director.

The sign of time -Ostroleka in Poland

The following article has been published in a Polish Renewable online magazine. Please read the english translation here:

The signs of the times. A 4 MW SUNfarming PV farm was built near the power station in Ostroleka

The project developer SUNfarming Polska launches four photovoltaic farms with a total capacity of 4 MW in the vicinity of the coal-fired power plant in Ostrołęka this month. SUNfarming is already preparing to build next PV farms in other parts of the country, while looking for opportunities to take over projects with winning auctions.
The launch of four solar farms in Ostrołęka by SUNfarming Polska this month is the result of guaranteeing support for these projects as a result of the first auction for renewable energy, which the Energy Regulatory Office carried out at the end of December 2016.

Under the terms of that auction, all the projects supported at that time must start generating energy by the end of 2018. In the case of projects implemented near Ostrołęka, this condition will be met, and solar farms will start to transfer energy to the PGE Dystrybucja network this month. The entire PV farm complex will produce 4 GWh of electricity per year.

Photovoltaic farms set up by Sunfarming Polska were established in the areas where previously a furnace waste landfill was located. It was formed from the combustion of coal at the power plant in Ostrołęka.

The use of photovoltaics in this place will make it possible to develop areas that are not suitable for use for other types of activities, because they were a landfill of slag and ashes for 35 years.
Currently, SUNfarming Polska is preparing for the construction of further solar farms, for which support was guaranteed in the auction system thanks to the second auction conducted by URE (The Energy Regulatory Office) in June 2017.

It is about three photovoltaic farms that will be built near Łask in the province Łódz. In addition, two PV farms will be built near Ząbkowice Śląskie in the province Lower Silesia. The purchase of a sixth project with public guarantees of energy sales in the auction system is also being finalized.

In line with the liabilities resulting from the auction conducted in June last year, these solar farms must start producing energy by mid-2019.

SUNfarming Polska is looking for opportunities to acquire new projects that can be completed by the middle of next year. The company is also interested in purchasing further PV projects, for which the possibility of settlements in the auction system was guaranteed in the last auction of November this year.

By expanding its portfolio, SUNfarming Polska plans to build a PV farm in Poland with a total capacity of around 20 MW.

First Hybrid Center for Renewable Energy in the Bahamas

The first SUNfarming/bioltec Hybrid Center for renewable electricity and renewable mobility in the Bahamas was inaugurated on 10th December.

The Bahamas Hybrid Center offers renewable electricity and renewable mobility combined with food production, all coupled to a one-site training program - a very unique concept.
The German companies SUNfarming GmbH and bioltec systems GmbH , in cooperation with the Bahamian company 700 Islands Energy, have set up a hybrid center for renewable energies at the Windsor High School in Albany, Nassau. This project is part of the worldwide dena Renewable Energy Solutions Programme coordinated by the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) - the German Energy Agency - and supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) within the German Energy Solutions Initiative.

More than 40 political, business and university guests attended the opening ceremony on the campus of Windsor High School.
After the opening speech by Peter Schrum, company founder and main shareholder of SUNfarming, guests had the opportunity to visit the center, accompanied by knowledgeable experts who gladly answered all questions.

In this Hybrid Center, a greenhouse with roof integrated photovoltaic panels, electricity is generated from sunlight, while vegetables, fruits, flowers or medicinal herbs are grown indoors with high yield. The integration of renewable energy into a combined heat and power plant generates electricity and hot water at the same time. A smart grid management system makes the power together with a battery storage as a 24/7 stand-alone solution and / or grid-connected. Electric and fuel vehicles clearly demonstrate renewable mobility.
At the same time, SUNfarming and bioltec are striving to promote climate and resource protection, to shorten regional value chains, to provide energy, to create jobs and ultimately to increase the quality of life sustainably. The competencies of both companies have been integrated into the design. Demonstration, training, application and technology transfer of proven leading-edge technologies are the keywords for this "Bahamian - German Hybrid Center". In addition, it provides the foundation for future collaborative research and development, including business models for commercial applications. The partners bring together different systems integration technologies, whether for off grid or grid-connected applications that are adaptable to local conditions and customer needs.

„The participants were very satisfied with the course and some even stated that it was one of the best courses they attended and the wish there was more of these types of training. They feel now they will be able to make a big difference when going back to home/work,“ says Faure van Schalkwyk, Energy Research Engineer & Trainer.

Xoli Phillips recommends SUNfarming Food & Energy:

"Food & Energy is an excellent opportunity our youth must grap with both hands. It is the best training I have ever attended. Training was so exciting and prepared us for the future. Thanks to all the facilitators who made the training so easy to understand. So professional and well versed with the course. It is much appreciated…keep up the excellent work."
