SUNfarming acquires further projects in Poland

The SUNfarming Group from Erkner is expanding its Polish portfolio by a total of 60 MWp by the end of 2021. The total of 48 solar projects were acquired from various Polish developers, some of whom SUNfarming has already worked with in the past. The largest transaction comprises a project portfolio with approx. 37 MWp, for the construction of which SUNfarming was able to gain a new financing partner with the help of Capcora.

SUNfarming is acquiring further ready-to-build photovoltaic projects with secured tariffs in December 2021 - the largest portfolio of 37 MWp consists of 39 individual projects that secured a Contract for Difference (CfD) in the auction in June 2021. The two other acquisitions with 16 MW and 7 MW are also solar projects that received a 15-year CfD.
SUNfarming has already been able to secure the construction phase financing for all projects in order to ensure that the projects can be implemented in a timely manner. In some cases, SUNfarming was able to draw on its existing interim financing line of EUR 35 million or expand the financing framework with existing partners. For the largest acquisition, SUNfarming used the credit of a new partner. This challenging transaction was completed in less than 6 weeks.
"Thanks to a good and professional cooperation with our advisors, we were able to acquire three portfolios from different sellers in December 2021 alone, while securing financing from three different capital providers. We would like to thank our existing and also new financing partners for their trust and look forward to realising the projects in 2022," Anna Pilarczyk-Naprawski, Managing Director Poland of SUNfarming Group, is pleased to announce.
"2021 was one of the most successful years in our company's history. Especially our Polish business is booming. We entered the market about 6 years ago and are happy to see that the hard work of the last years is bearing fruit. With the latest acquisitions, our portfolio has grown to almost 145 MWp and the target of 200 MWp by 2023 is now within reach," continues Martin Tauschke, Managing Director and co-partner of the SUNfarming Group.

SUNfarming Eco- and Agri-Solar Parks with Double Added Value for the Energy Turnaround

SUNfarming continues to set the course and focus on biodiversity solar parks.

With the two concepts "Eco-Solar" and "Agri-Solar", SUNfarming has set the course for project planning for solar parks on former agricultural land in 2021. "With our dual-use concept for open-space plants, we can significantly expand the biodiversity of the land in addition to producing green electricity," says SUNfarming Group CEO Thies Schrum.

The SUNfarming Eco- and Agri-Solar Systems have clear unique selling points due to bifacial glass-glass modules, an elevated substructure and a specifically developed rainwater distribution system. The dual-use concepts offered have been refined for years in some cases with sheep, bee and poultry farming (eco-solar) as well as vegetable and medicinal herb cultivation (agri-solar). "We have further developed our Food&Energy system from abroad over the years and adapted it to the German market and have thus not only created a space under the modules, but also very concrete concepts whose feasibility we have already proven. This is a huge advantage," continues Thies Schrum, CEO of the SUNfarming Group.

SUNfarming already has several hundred hectares of eco- and agri-solar plants in approval procedures in Germany and plans to roll out the concept further. "We want to make a decisive contribution to the energy transition with this and see ourselves very well positioned to do so," concludes Schrum.

Award-winning SUNfarming PV system in Heinersdorf

A school roof in Heinersdorf was equipped with 150 solar modules from SUNfarming. Bürgerenergie Oder-Spree has now been awarded a prize for the pilot project, in which the school, gymnasium and day-care centre are supplied with renewable energy by a photovoltaic system.

The Ministry of Economics, Labour and Energy and the Berlin-Brandenburg regional group of the Association of Municipal Enterprises (VKU) awarded the Heinersdorf project a special prize at the Energy Efficiency Award 2021 ceremony.
Heiner Kamper, project manager of SUNfarming: "The jury emphasised the high educational value for the children. Furthermore, the jury praised the project as a positive example of citizen participation in the energy transition.
We congratulate Bürgerenergie Oder-Spree on this award and thank them for their trust in SUNfarming."

The plant size is 47.6 KWp, the produced output is 45,000 KWh and the self-consumption for school and kindergarden is 50%. The communities bear no risk, the roofs are leased from the capital contributions of the cooperative members and supply the community with cheap, renewable energy via the SUNfarming PV system. The citizens' cooperative is planning to lease further roofs and to have them realised.

Successful bond full placement of EUR 10 million

For additional project development and pre-financing exclusively for German solar projects, SUNfarming has, in addition to the established financing mix, gross issue proceeds of EUR 10 million from the listed 5.5% corporate bond 2020/2025 (ISIN: DE000A254UP9). Here, SUNfarming was able to successfully place the maximum issue volume well before the end of the offer period.

Martin Tauschke, CEO of SUNfarming GmbH: “We are proud that in 2020 we were once again able to demonstrate our earning power despite the effects of the pandemic. We are just as happy about the positive start into the 2021 financial year and the successful full placement of our listed debut bond. We will do everything in our power to live up to the trust of our investors and to establish ourselves as a reliable issuer on the capital market over the long term."

SUNfarming GmbH recorded a successful 2020 financial year based on preliminary figures. SUNfarming was able to increase earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) by 29.4% from EUR 1.7 million to EUR 2.2 million. This corresponds to an improved EBITDA margin of 7.9% after 4.7% in the previous year. The annual surplus increased by 87.5% from EUR 0.8 million to EUR 1.5 million. The positive development is also reflected in the equity ratio, which rose from 24.7% to 34.9%.

For the 2021 financial year, SUNfarming expects to improve both sales and earnings. In the 1st quarter, projects with an installed capacity of approx. 5 MWp and in Poland of approx. 3.9 MWp were successfully implemented. In Germany there were seven roof-top projects with a total output of 3.5 MWp and two ground-mounted systems with an output of 750 kWp each.

For the rest of the year there are currently around 27.3 MWp of new projects being planned and implemented. More than 60% of these consist of free-field PV projects that are subject to tendering with a capacity of over 750 kWp, around 20% consist of classic EEG-compensated free-field systems with an output of up to 750 kWp and around 20% roof systems with a total output of over 100 kWp. In addition to the new projects, around 29 MWp of project expansions are being implemented, of which the first two projects will be completed in the second quarter. In addition, several major projects of 20 MWp and more are in development for 2022.

SUNfarming has so far collected 7.50 million euros with a coporate bond

Successful 2020 with approx. 50 MW installed capacity in Germany and abroad. When it was listed on the stock exchange, it was 5.75 million euros, the bond has now raised 7.5 million euros.

The funds received are intended for additional project development and pre-financing exclusively for German solar projects.

Martin Tauschke, CEO of SUNfarming GmbH: “We are very happy about the trust that investors have in us. Especially in view of the current capital market environment, we are extremely satisfied with the fact that we were able to already successfully place around 75% of the total volume. This result speaks very clearly for our company, our strategy and the undisputed growth market of renewable energies. "
Despite the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, SUNfarming expects 2020 to be a successful year with around 50 MWp of completed projects in Germany and abroad.
For the first half of 2021, the project pipeline already comprises more than 30 MW.
