“Continued generosity: 68,000 euros in donations for FEED in 2024

The willingness to donate to our FEED project continues in 2024 and we are delighted to have raised a further 68,000 euros. Additional donations have already been announced.

With these funds, the non-profit organisation in South Africa will be able to expand its school feeding projects in kindergartens and schools and develop regional training programmes for women in sustainable agriculture.

Edith Brasche from FEED explains: 'We have seen the positive impact we can have on the ground. Our aim is to create new jobs and income in agriculture beyond self-sufficiency. After the training courses, we enable participants to grow food and energy free of charge under the SUNfarming Food & Energy facilities. The sale of surplus vegetables and medicinal herbs helps the former trainees to set up successful small businesses in the long term. The donations take us a big step forward in providing sustainable support to the participants over three years."

"F.E.E.D. - Together for a better future "

Food, Education, Energy & Development e.V. (F.E.E.D.) was founded in 2020 by Peter Schrum to make a sustainable contribution as a non-profit organisation. Based in Hamburg, F.E.E.D. not only combats malnutrition, but also promotes awareness of healthy eating and imparts knowledge about ecologically sustainable agriculture. Our aim is to enable people in need to become self-sufficient, create jobs and promote the establishment of their own businesses.

International Green Week 2017

SUNfarming in agri-political dialogue with politicians from home and abroad at the world's largest Agricultural fair in Berlin

This year, SUNfarming presented itself as a partner, together with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development (BMZ), to the 400,000 trade fair visitors.
The general interest in SUNfarming as a project developer for capital investors as well as in the realization and active support of PV projects for commercial and private power plants was as always great. This year, we were able to successfully present our unique "Food & Energy" concept, a combination of solar energy production and food production. With the
experience of more than 1,000 hectares of solar projects implemented worldwide, SUNfarming developed the unique Food & Energy concept. In addition to the benefits of solar energy, the key elements are food production, job creation, training and water management. The SUNfarming "5 in 1" model contributes actively to the sustainable improvement of people's living conditions, particularly in resource-poor areas or refugee regions.

Federal Development Minister Gerd Müller, has put more support in the refugee policy for the countries of origin and was very interested in finding out more about our Food & Energy concept.
Hans-Joachim Fuchtel, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, showed also great interest in cooperation in the area of Food & Energy as an approach to combating the causes of flight. There will also be concrete discussions on projects in the solar PV sector in developing and emerging countries.
The Minister of the Environment of Qatar and the Agricultural Minister of Mauritius took the opportunity to get information about possibilities of cooperating with our competent project leaders.
Madagascar's Embassy Adviser, the Ambassador of Guatemala and the Bolivian Ambassador, as well as a delegation from the Nigerian Embassy, were also interested guests.
Representing the Embassy of Paraguay, Mr Maidana, responsible for Economic Affairs, visited us and the embassy council of the Republic of El Salvador also got to know our stand.
The already implemented Food & Energy project in South Africa was presented by SUNfarming at the public event "A world without hunger is possible", a special initiative of the BMZ.

grand opening of the first food & energy training centre in africa

SUNfarming/ALENSYS and the North-West University celebrated the opening of the first Food & Energy Training Centre in South Africa.

SUNfarming/ALENSYS and the North-West University celebrated the opening of the first Food & Energy Training Centre in South Africa.
The 12th of October was an exciting day for SUNfarming/ALENSYS and our partners. Together with more than 150 guests from all over Africa, including stakeholders from politics, business and universities, the opening session was held on the Campus of the North-West University in Potchefstroom.
After Prof Frika J van Rendsburg, Rector of the NWU cut the ribbon, the guests were invited to visit the solar green-houses accompanied by trainers, explaining the project and answering questions.
In his speech Prof LJ Grobler, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering especially emphasized the function of the NWU as a renewable research and development university towards sustainable communities. "We as a University form the basis of education and from here we can replicate it to other Universities and other regions through agreements between our university and other universities", so Prof LJ Grobler.
"The students that have been trained here at our first and unique Food & Energy Training Centre can help us to roll out the investments to the rest of Africa. We see the cooperation with the NWU as a development nucleus for other universities and partners", said Peter Schrum, main shareholder and founder of SUNfarming, in his speech to the audience. “The benefits for citizens and local government are endless! This project will facilitate broad base community participation with long-term ownership, sustainable Food & Energy production and job security benefits with a strong training component to those who need it most,” Schrum adds.

SUNfarming builds another 11 MW in Friedland

SUNfarming builds another 11 MW in Friedland

SUNfarming builds another 11 MW in Friedland, making it the largest producer of electricity in the region Friedland

11 megawatt solar park at three more locations in Friedland are since March 2016 connected to the grid.
As already several times in recent years, the trustful cooperation of SUNfarming with DKB also allowed the financing of these solar parks.Through our unique quality assurance system, we are a reliable partner for banks and investors.
"As production partners for our SUNfarming quality modules we chose Aleo Solar, producing in Prenzlau and Astronergy, producing in Frankfurt/Oder. Only economically strong PV module factories with automated production lines are added to the supply chain of SUNfarming.
Prior to delivery all modules are regularly tested at the factory by our SUNfarming quality managers, in collaboration with external testing institutes such as the PI Berlin, in a particularly strict quality control, "said Martin Tauschke, CEO of SUNfarming.
"We have successfully realized five solar parks with 22 MW, making SUNfarming the largest electricity producer in the region Friedland".

SUNfarming Food-and-Energy Plants

Energy, Food and Jobs worldwide

With the PPP-Project "Food-and-Energy" we enhance our efforts not only to ensure for energy security, but also at the same time our solar-microclimate-greenhouse is ensuring a sustainable food supply with a water consumption that is kept to a minimum. Food and Energy Plants are a keydriver in combating unemployment in ressource poor areas, in crisis area and developing countries.

One example:
1 MW Food-and-Energy Plant, erected on 1,8 ha in Southern Africa or the Middle East, delivers in 1 year:
490 000 kg of local produced food, 1700 MWh renewable solar energy, 83000 tons of CO2 savings, 75-100 sustainable jobs and trainings facilities.

Food-and-Energy Plants
SUNfarming is building Food-and-Energy Training-Centres
Students, teachers and community members are trained in intergration of sustainable PV-technology and breeding, modern irrigation, harvest, packaging, marketing and sales in local markets. As a first project SUNfarming is supporting their partner company Alensys AG with the PPP-project "Food-and-Energy" in cooperation with the DEG (Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH) in South Africa

Our goal:
SUNfarming is in contact with countries like Namibia, Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, and Pastikan to develop projects with an average size of 10 MWp. With the experience of more than 400 MW realised PV-projects worldwide, thereof 70 MW owned by SUNfarming, together with german and international state bodies we certainly have an important contribution in the structural development in developing countries and crisis areas:
- energy security with renewable energy
- food production with water-saving drip-irrigation (hydroponics)
- sustainable trainings and jobs
